Gigi
Gigi

Gigi is adjusting very nicely into our little family. We have one other dog (Lola), they have become quite the little duo. They lay on the back of the couch together and watch cars and other dogs go by. She loves going on walks and running around out in the yard. I currently do not have any pictures of her in action but will get you some when I do. Thanks, Griffin Gessner

Gabby

We've had her 6 months now and she is doing pretty well. Gabby has had her ups and downs but we wouldn't trade her for anything. We did put her on medication to help with her fear of everything and everyone. We also found a trainer in GF which taught us to help Gabby deal with us. I can now approach her without her running away, she takes a treat from my hand, taught her to sit and stay. Gabby is still leery of Greg, but getting better. When we're not home she has free reign of the house and hasn't had any accidents. All we want for our Gabby is to have the rest of her life to be happy and free from abuse!! I will try and send pictures. Once again, Thank you for everything you do for these animals!

Eddison

We originally adopted Pete, formally Eddison, in November 2015. He was very shy, timid and we think he had gone through some abuse. We worked with him to find a comfort zone in which he could begin to trust us. Poor Pete had many tender areas on his body, which made it very difficult for us to handle him. However, we quickly learned which ribs and where on his hind quarters we could touch him so we could handle him comfortably. It was during this time it became apparent that the only time he was picked up, bad things happened. Poor Pete didn't like belly rubs and overall did not like any contact that put him in a position of being lifted. Pete has since healed, has been neutered and has had dental work completed. Pete quickly learned that in our home the food dishes are always full and he can grab a snack anytime. Pete is also learning that we only go potty outside. When we are gone during the day at work, Pete and our other pugs stay in a large room, gated at the doorway, that has several beds, chews, toys, food and water. This gives them time to bond (and sleep!) along with helping Pete continue to learn not to potty throughout the house. When we are gone for short periods, they have run of the house. Pete is now a happy member of our family. When it is bedtime he knows it is time to cuddle with his dad on his pillow. Pete is a cuddler at bedtime; he likes to lay between his mom and dad on the bed with his head on dad's pillow. When the alarm goes off, Pete is the last pug off the bed…he likes to patrol the bed to make sure all are safe and then he cuddles in. Pete never liked being on the couch, but he quickly learned that in our house pugs go everywhere. He is still getting accustomed to being a dog that is allowed on furniture, but we will get him over that. Pete is really coming along in his new home. It has only been two months and the change is amazing. There is no better feeling than watching a rescue dog finding happiness and his grumble. Pete, aka Eddison, is eight years old. There is nothing more satisfying than taking a senior dog that isn’t desirable to most people and providing him with the ultimate retirement home. We also have another rescue pug that was eight years old when we adopted him. A year later he acts like he owns the house. We cannot wait to see Pete do the same!

Emily
Emily

She was my foster on and off for 9 months, so she was very accustomed to life in my tiny condo. She has always been a highly adaptable animal, but her self-esteem/confidence has increased...she knows she's home and she is different dog. Much more grounded and seems very happy. She continues to have some dog reactivity, but she has met my sister's 5 yo male pit, and things went better than I expected. She met my mom's 9 lb Shi Tzu months back and that went really well. It's just the two of us, but she does well with kids -they always express an interest in her while we are out on our walks. She's pretty indifferent to them - no reaction either way. She sits patiently while they gently pet her and ask lots of questions. She is the BEST dog and I have not regretted my decision for one second. I fall more and more in love with her every day. She has quite the fan club, because she is just so friendly/affectionate/starving for attention ;-) Everyone in my building loves the Duchess, and I rely on my village of friends and family to help with her care, as I am gone 11 hours a day. I've had a dear friend doggy sit with her over a weekend while I was out of town and they requested to be the first person I call next time. I really don't know what else to say...she is a bit spoiled and I enjoy spoiling her!!! Kind regards and thanks for all you do!

Greta

Diamond In The Ruff has been absolutely wonderful in the doggy adoption process! I had been watching and waiting for the right opportunity to welcome a bundle of fur into my life when Elsa (foster name Greta) popped up on DITR's website! I brought her in knowing she had been very vocal in foster and would need extra help potty training. She has adjusted very well to her "furever" home each day we have seen improvements! Elsa loves hanging out with her cousins Tasha, Kirby, and Tiny who are also rescue pups, enjoys hanging out at the lake, nap time, and just "dogging" around. I can't imagine what my home was like before her and I am so thankful for DTIR for giving me the opportunity to care for such a special pup. Thank you guys for everything you do! Tabetha
