Sophie Sophie, who is now known as Elly has adjusted very well to living with me. When she initially moved in I had some concern because she was very defensive of the house and it made people nervous of her when they came over. Now she has become the welcoming party for anyone who stops by, which is a relief because she is a very kind and loveable dog and her initial reaction didn't show that. I haven't slept through my alarm clock since having her because she learned that she gets to go on a walk and refuses to let me do so. I've tried hiding under the blankets but she will physically remove them if I do that. Even when I'm tired it is impossible to be angry because she is so goofy about it, all you can do is laugh. We have been doing some work on pointing and ideally I would like her to be my pheasant hunting dog, she is very smart and will hopefully get it all figured out. Elly has been a joy to have in my home and I couldn't be happier with how things are going. I have attached a few pictures of my 43lb lap dog. Nick
Smith I'm so greatful to Diamond in the Ruff for bringing me my little guy. I adopted "Smith" back in end of January/ beginning of February I believe. I renamed him Jax. He has been such an incredible blessing in my life. He's adjusted just fine to my home. He's become the adored prince of the home. He's got me, his mama, my mom, his grandma who spoil him, an aunt, & my own grandma. Jax is definitely the man of the house Haha. Jax was one of two dogs in the home when we first got him. Unfortunately our other dog was in the process of dying and to end her suffering we made the very hard decision to put her down. We wanted her to not be in pain anymore & to move on to the big green field in the sky. At first I think it was hard for him to not have her around. They did build a bond the short time she was still around. However, with time & being spoiled with love I think he's moved on. Maybe in the future we'll consider adopting him a new sister. Until then he can continue to get spoiled with love, toys, & treats. I could not imagine Jax not in my life. He's definitely found his forever home & I wouldn't want it any other way. I've attached some pictures of him & his time with me. Sincerely, Dakota Miller
Jake As you know, we met 'Gus' in Fargo on July 3rd. He was able to come home with us that day, and we must say he has been a perfect fit. We changed his name from Jake to Gus because our daughter had a chocolate lab named Jake. He learned his name quickly, and his adjustment to his new home and surroundings has been quick and easy, too. We live on a small acreage near Watertown, SD. Although Gus lives in our home with us, he loves to be outside with me exploring the area. We have no other pets, but our neighbors do. He has become good friends with the neighbor's dogs and cats. Gus just loves everyone and every animal. He's even having a 'through the fence' bromance with a 1200 pound steer next door. Both Gus and the steer meet at the fence, stick their noses through the fence and lick each other. When we adopted Gus, he was very thin. His foster family indicated that he was a stray. Gus eats well - we feed him 'Call of the Wild' dog food. He has gained weight, has a shinny coat and is healthy in every way. We had an appointment with our veterinarian for a thorough check-up and Gus is doing well. No one knows for sure how old Gus is - we think he's a mature boy. We decided he should be 5 years old with his birthday on July 3rd - the day he came home with us! Gus is the perfect pet. He knows all his commands, is completely house-broken, is extremely gentle with adults, children and other animals. He has displayed no aggressive behaviors. He likes to be near us all the time. When we're in the family room - so is Gus. When we're making dinner, Gus is in the kitchen, too. When Carol is in her office, Gus is curled up under her desk (quite a sight for a nearly 100 pound lab) or lying by her chair. Gus goes where we go. This past weekend we visited friends at their cabin near Fergus Falls, MN. Gus loved the trip, loved the cabin, and loved the extra attention. In short - we love our chocolate lab, Gus. We are so fortunate that we met Gus through Diamond in the Ruff. We also appreciate how thorough your adoption process is. These rescue pets deserve loving caring homes. Thank you for allowing us to be part of Diamond in the Ruff adoptions. We love our dog! Sincerely, Ron & Carol Bergan
Buck We changed his name to Rudder, and he is doing awesome! He absolutely loves it at the lake home. You can see him in the picture on his first pontoon ride. A week ago he helped me make the lifeguard chair. He is turning out to be a very well behaved puppy, and smart as can be. We have been working on some tricks with him, and he catches on very fast, and listens well. I can't believe it, but he stays in the yard on his own. He really likes being in the same place as we are, and what a little snuggler! We couldn't be more thrilled to have him, thank you so much for letting us adopt him, we are so grateful to have him. Ruby (2014) I met Ruby for the first time on May 2nd at her foster home in Fargo. She was extremely shy and would only come to me if I had a treat. Most of the time she stayed very close to her foster Mom and would occasionally peak out at me from behind her legs. When I picked Ruby up on May 3rd and we began the long journey to her new home in Bismarck, she was quite uncertain about me and was restless in the car on the drive to her new home. I kept talking to her and assuring her things would be okay and she finally fell asleep on my lap. It took Ruby awhile to get acclimated to her new surroundings, and us. She was very scared and so we were careful not to startle her or make quick or sudden movements. Slowly Ruby began to get adjusted to her new life. Iâm very fortunate because I get to bring Ruby with me to work every day. In the morning when I get ready to leave the house I say to her âcâmon Ruby, letâs go to workâ. She runs down the stairway and waits by my car door so that I can put her in her kennel and head off! She has a nice little cozy bed in my office, along with her blankie and toy. She is sooo comfortable and loves to sleep away her day! After having been âdog-lessâ for almost 5 years now, we wanted to make sure we found the perfect fit. And that certainly has been the case with Ruby!! We feel blessed to have such a wonderful addition to our family! We are looking forward to many more years with our little âpumpkinâ! Thank you to DITR for helping us find Ruby! Sincerely, Karla & Len Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
