Foster Feedback:

12/23/15

Rupert is a great dog! He is about a year old. He is a very smart boy who loves to run. He is still a puppy so he does chew things hes not supposed to when he gets bored, so it is a good idea to always have bones or chew toys laying around for him. He is a very fast learner and loves to play with other dogs. He should go to a home with no cats as he is a little to interested in the the cat at his foster home.

People:  Rupert does great with everyone he meets. He does jump when he gets excited so it is important to watch him closely around kids. He is mellow for such a young dog, he loves to cuddle up with his foster mom when she sits down to read. He cuddles while watching TV and basically anytime you sit down.  He loves to play!! He can't get enough of playing tug with the rope or fetch with the ball! He still has puppy energy but most of that is channeled during play time.

Animals:  Rupert does great with other animals! He is currently living with 3 other dogs and a cat. He would do best in a home with no cats. He likes to chase the cat in his foster home from room to room. He plays great with the other 3 dogs! They all 3 play tug with the rope together and rough house in the backyard together! There have been no "arguments" between him and the other dogs at all.

Kenneling:  Rupert does not like his kennel. He is kenneled at night and when his foster parents are at work. He has learned how to bust himself out of the kennel. When he does get out of the kennel he usually just hangs out with the other dogs in the house and is not too destructive. Every once in a while his foster mom has found a cell phone charger  or a blow dryer cord chewed up but it is most likely that he got bored after he broke out of the kennel. Having plenty of chew toys and bones laying around the house have helped with the destructive boredom chewing. At night when everyone in his foster home goes to bed he goes in the kennel with no problem. He  has never broken out during the night.

Training:  Rupert is a VERY well mannered dog. He does jump on people when he gets excited, his foster mom has been working on it with him and he has been improving. It is important to remember that he is still very young and puppy behavior may surface every once in a while. He knows basic commands such as "sit," "down," "up," "come," "stay," "drop it" and "no".  He pulls on the leash a little bit, and hes a very strong guys, but does pretty good while out on a walk. He LOVES car rides and does wonderful while in the car. It is important to keep an eye on him while he is outside. He found a way out of his foster homes fully fenced in back yard and took off running. Thankfully his foster parents were watching and were able to follow him, pull up next to him with the car and open the door, he jumped right in. Since then Rupert has been on a tie out in the fenced yard. He does great on the tie out, no problems at all with it.

All in all Rupert is an amazing dog who really wants a family of his own. He would do great in just about any home! He would love a running partner or someone who could keep him active, but he also does great in a home where he can cuddle up and watch TV with his people.
