Pierce is such a loving, adventurous and quiet soul. He is a giant cuddle bug who wants nothing more than a human who will pet him endlessly and a good yard to run around in. He doesn't say much, but it lets you know how important it is when he finally does. His eyes are the most expressive I have ever seen, and you will assuredly know his feelings and thoughts the moment you see them. He loves to make puppy eyes at us to get extra attention; and it always works! Nothing would make him happier than someone that his 'eyes' work on.

People: Pierce loves all people! Kids, adults, and the elderly! A cuddler from the word go, his favorite things is people! If you have a way to pet him, he's all in. His favorite place is wherever his people are. He currently resides in home with 3 children (5, 6, and 8) and adores them. They respect his boundaries, and if he feels overwhelmed will go to his kennel on his own.

Animals: He hasn't yet met a dog he didn't like, but he does have a little bit of a prey drive and plays in a way that suggests he would do better in a home with animals over 15 pounds or that won't take his excitement for the chase personally. :) He currently lives with 2 dogs, 18 pounds and 30 pounds and has only shown increased interest in chasing the smaller of the two. Dogs 30 pounds and over appear not to trigger his excitement. I am unsure of his disposition towards cats.

Kenneling: While he prefers to remain unkenneled and bask in the sun on the couch, his adventurous nature says he needs to be kenneled while unattended, or when you leave the house. He will pout, but goes in on command, and doesn't even talk back about it though he does make sad eyes! He would do best in a kennel with flat (no edges) bed, and no toys/blankets. He likes to stretch out as much as lay in a ball, so an xl kennel is right up his alley.

Training: He is such a good boy! He knows sit, lay, off, kennel, food, outside, the works!

The only issue he has is that he cannot be trusted alone with toys! We will be working on toy training; as in, teaching him how to play with them, and not eat them! While most dogs destroy toys, Pierce has shown he will consume those remnants, which can be unhealthy and dangerous. His family will need to be diligent about picking up toys, and ensuring he doesn't eat them. <3 He also isn't fond of stairs, as in more than 2 or 3. We're working on it, but have had to put it on hold for a couple weeks. Before we postponed stair training he was making good progress.

Potty: Pierce is fully potty trained, and will go to the door and paw at it to be let out. He has had 0 house accidents and 0 kennel accidents!

Leash: An adventurous soul, he'd prefer not to use one; but leash training has been amazing! He responds beautifully and loves pleasing his person.

Health: Pierce recently underwent a procedure to remove stuck bits of toys from his digestive tract! He is currently recovering from that procedure with rest and a special diet that will only need to last through his recovery time. His recovery is going perfectly so far. <3

Pierce is calmly awaiting his forever home. The family that adopts this gorgeous boy, will never want for a better dog. <3
