Foster Feedback: 11/15/15 Thanks for visiting my profile! I'm Mort, a sprightly senior Yorkie who qualifies for our "Senior Savings" 50% off adoption fee program for seniors 65+ adopting dogs 7+ years.
Hmmm where were we? Oh right! My favorite things are... back scratches, napping, treats, and being outside (when it's not too cold). On chilly days I love curling up with a warm blanket and napping in front of the fireplace. I adore my humans and like to be in the same room as them when they're home. I've been told I look ADORABLE in my sweater, which is good because it keeps me warm and cozy! I don't really likebeing in a kennel so my humans usually just put a gate up to keep me in a bedroom while they're gone and then I am happy to nap the day away.
I live with 4 foster brothers and sisters and don't mind being around the other dogs. Except the young whipper snapper. He's a puppy who is still learning manners and I don't like when he gets in my face (but who would?). I'd also enjoy a slower paced home with older/considerate children only as sometimes I get startled by too much commotion.
At my last trip to the vet they found that I have arthritis in my back which has caused it to kink and makes me to need to go potty every couple of hours- but other than that I'm feeling fabulous! All of my blood work and kidney function is GREAT. I will probably need long-term pain relief medication due to the arthritis but the cost is minimal and even though I'm not a spring chicken anymore I have tons to offer and am very easy to care for and love!! Won't you please consider letting me share a blanket with you? 10/24/15 Mort! He's been in our home for a little over a day and is just too darn easy. He's a great senior dog looking for a soft, quiet and comfortable retirement home! He's low energy and would make an excellent companion. Mort has been slow to warm up to his doggie brothers, he doesn't like when they approach him too fast. His vet said he may be arthritic in his back legs which may be the hesitation for too much interaction with his brothers. This also causes him to walk a bit slower. He also has cataracts in both eyes, but doesn't seem to hinder him at all. He has had a few accidents in the house, but seems to understand that he needs to go outside. He's been friendly to all the people he has met and just wants to snuggle up and nap with you! More about MortGood with Dogs, Good with Adults, Quiet, Needs special care
