Foster Feedback: 8/23/15 Titus is a happy dog who is still looking for his forever home. He is in need of an owner that is experienced with the German Shepherd breed. He is getting a lot less nervous around new people and is awesome with other dogs. He loves his new Kong toy, he plays with it for hours. He really likes to play chase in the backyard, but he still gets rough when he is excited. When he is excited he plays really rough. When he plays rough he gets nippy and will try to tackle whoever he is playing with. He is NOT aggressive! He just forgets how big and strong he is. He is a very big puppy and has a lot of puppy energy. He will need to be in a home with no kids and no small animals. He will also need a family that understands and knows how to handle the rough playing. Titus would greatly benefit from dog training. He has already had a few sessions and is progressing well! He works really well with a pinch collar and is learning his manners while walking. He knows sit, stay, up, down and come, it's just a matter of him being stubborn sometimes. Titus is a happy, handsome, playful dog who deserves an awesome home with someone who can teach him how to play a little nicer. 8/7/15 Titus is doing great! He has warmed up to our family and animals very nicely! He is a very big boy who forgets his own size and strength. He is starting to come out of his shell a little more, he's learning that not everyone and everything is scary. When he first meets someone he is still scared and it takes him a few minutes to warm up, but he's getting better. He would do best in a home with no cats as he still thinks he can eat the cat in his foster home. Titus would greatly benefit from having either a human to go running and playing with or another younger/larger sized dog that can take all the rough housing. Titus would also do best in a home with no small kids since he plays so rough. He tackles his foster mom with no effort at all. He is a typical GSD that is territorial of his people and his space so he needs a family that understands how to handle that type of situation. If he feels his foster mom is in any kind of danger he jumps up to help her and is not scared to"nip" at anyone or anything that's trying to hurt her. He has been to a crash course of puppy training and did excellent. He responds very well to a pinch collar! Without the pinch collar Titus does tend to pull his foster family around, and he does not like to listen to the commands being given. We have been working on the commands from the course and he knows the basic commands "heel" "swing" "sit" "stay" "leave it." He is such a smart boy it won't take long to learn any trick. As far as kennel training, he does not like to be in his kennel. After he is in his kennel he tends to calm down as long as he can see everyone else in the house hold, he also does good in the kennel at bed time as long as everyone else in the house is in bed too. Titus is an awesome big boy who will have no trouble finding his place in the right home. 7/24/15 We have only had Titus for a day and a half, but so far he is doing great! He is scared of everyone and everything! He cowers if you say his name to loud. He is a very smart dog and he loves to chew on bones and chase his tail! I have no doubts he will make an awesome addition to someones family! Background: Titus came to us from a pound where he was picked up as a stray. His owners did not want to claim him and stated that he was too much for them to handle and that he was aggressive towards their daughter. We were unable to obtain any more information on the subject, however we have had him carefully around kids and he has done wonderful! He would do best in a home with older more considerate kids. Other Animals: He loves to play with other dogs, though he plays a little rough. He has done really well with the other dogs in his foster home, but is a little to curious with the cat in the house. He would love to find a home with another big dog to play with and to show him how to be a dog. He would not do so well in a home with small dogs or cats since he plays so rough. People: He is very nervous around new people, especially men. He has warmed up nicely to his foster mom, and he wont leave her side. He met the groomer and did great for her! He showered her with kisses! He also played with the groomers 2 year old son. They ran around together and even played with a ball together with no issues! When a new person comes up to say hi he hides behind his foster mom or he drops to the ground and shakes. It only takes him about five minutes to let new people pet him. Kenneling: He feels the most confident in his kennel. He does not like to initially go inside of the kennel but once inside he does just fine. He lays down and either watches whats going on or he goes to sleep. We kennel him in the car and other than getting car sick he does great! Training: Titus seems to be house broken, he has not had any accidents in his foster home. He also seems to know the words "Come", "Stay", "No", and "leave it."
