Foster Home Feedback

2/6/15

Jennings has been in my home for several months and has done very well. Upon arrival, I kenneled him between my two big dogs so that he could get used to their sights, smells and sounds. I crated and rotated them for two days. We did leashed introductions and it went flawlessly. It took approximately a week for him to understand that he must peacefully cohabitate with my 3 pound poodle and now they are just fine together. Once he has time to acclimate to a new routine and new dog friends, he is a very submissive dog. My poodle barks in his face and my male Lab can be rather inappropriate with him and he is nonreactive. He loves kids, but isn't always aware of the small ones when he is romping around with his big dog friends and at times will knock them over. He is the best. snuggler. ever. Jennings sleeps in bed with me at night and insists on being tucked up next to me. He has no resource guarding issues, which means he has no problem sharing food, water, toys, etc. Due to his need for slow dog introductions, he will likely never be a dog that will do well at a dog park. If you are looking for the ultimate companion dog for yourself or your family and have the time and patience to give this hunk a chance, I promise that he will not disappoint.

Long time no talk! I am still patiently awaiting my forever home. I have gotten much better on the leash, but still show extreme excitement when meeting other animals. However, with a proper introduction, I do wonderful with any animal I am around. I am not an ideal "off leash dog". I really, really, really love people. I just want to sit and cuddle all day. Because I love people so much, I get sad and whiny when I am put in a kennel. I am not an ideal dog for apartment living because of this. I am extremely curious, and have jumped the 4ft fence portion at my house to check things out before, so it is better if you have a six foot fence for me to hang out and play in. I love tennis balls, and am extremely food motivated. I hope to find my home for the holidays!

Foster Home Feedback- 09/08/14

Hello! Since we have talked last, I have really had time to settle into my foster home and let my true colors shine. I have had the opportunity to meet a ton of dogs of all shapes and sizes, and have done great! I have a fairly submissive personality in the home. The two little fluffs I live with have quite the attitude, and I don't react to it at all. My foster sister likes to play rough, and steals toys right out of my mouth! I have shown no signs of resource guarding or aggression. I love the 16 month old human baby that runs around the home. I am extremely gentle with him and love it when he pets me and gives me treats! I am extremely lazy in the house. I just want to follow my people around from room to room and hang out. I am also 100% potty trained. I do excellent in my crate with other dogs around. When I am crated by myself I get a little lonely and can whine for a few minutes. I am still working on my leash skills, and learning to be less "intense" in public. I am very curious, and just want to be everyone's friend! My perfect home has someone who wants to teach me new things and has a 6ft fence for me to play in. Please consider giving me a home!

Foster Home Feedback- 8/11/14

Hi! My name is Jennings! Aren't I handsome?! It's hard to believe that I entered the pound as a stray on 07/23/2014. I currently weigh 57 pounds, but I could afford to gain a few pounds. Despite being only 57 pounds, I am very strong. I am an extremely athletic and smart boy who is looking for a project to do. My ideal home includes someone who wants to work with me on training. I have been in my foster home since 08/09/14. I had an intake exam at the pound on 07/28/2014 and was declared healthy as can be, but I will be going to the vet on 08/14/2014 for another check up at Two Rivers.

I am still adjusting to my new home off the streets and out of the pound. My foster family has a 15 month old, who I walk very gentle around and am a little unsure of. He makes pretty funny noises that interest me :) They also have a large male setter and a female pit bull and I enjoy playing with them both. Last but not least, they have two fluffy little dogs that roam the house. I have never seen anything like these things, but they interest me a lot!

Because I haven't been socialized properly, I am still learning what appropriate dog to dog interaction is. I get extremely excited when I see another animal because I want to get to know them! But, sometimes this comes off a little rude and I am working on my intensity level when I meet new animals. The good news is, I am extremely treat motivated and very much want to please people so I should pick up any training I am given relatively quickly. I am 100% potty and kennel trained. I have not had a single accident in the house since arriving. I whine for a few seconds when I am in the kennel, but if you ignore me, I quiet down pretty quick. I know sit, wait/stay, and am working on lay down. Every time I go for a walk, I get much better with my leash skills. Because I was in the pound for so long, I still have some energy to burn off on walks. However, once in the house I am extremely lazy. I love people, and just want to cuddle with you.

I really need a family who wants to help me be a better dog. In return, I promise to be the most loyal companion you could ask for!
