Mort

Mort (as he was known to you) came into our lives and immediately became our Lucky! I just "felt" that name in my heart because I felt lucky to have found him! My husband loved the name Lucky also, so it was a no- brainier for me! At first, my little man was really shy and sleepy- I was warned about that by Kayla and Ryan so it was fully expected. It took about 2 days for him to get used to the house and all, but it really all went so smoothly! With all the snow we had, I let him potty on the deck so it was quickly in and out. Easy peasy for this little guy. I bought him sweaters and little boots so he wouldn't be cold. Honest to God, he licked my hand in gratitude after he came in on a below zero day! We had to get used to his habits and Aldo had to approach him slowly and gently. This boy needs a lot of TLC and, please be assured, he gets it here! I make all his food per the vet's instructions. He dines on chicken thighs, brown rice and baby carrots twice a day. Yes, he's looking a little "thicker" these days. I also make him Mutt Balls which is simply ground turkey, sweet potatoes, brown rice and and egg and baked into little round balls. Loves, loves, loves them! Another treat are Pup Cakes which are wheat flour, peanut butter ( chunky, no less!!), honey, egg, little baking soda. These can be frosted with smooth PB or cream cheese. Nothing is too good for my boy! Lastly, since we travel quite a bit, I decided to make Lucky an ESA so he could travel anywhere with me. My doctor was happy to write a note for me about flight anxiety and soon Lucky received his official vest., cards, and certificate! We just got back from a 10 day trip to Florida and Lucky joined us on his maiden voyage! He was PERFECT! No accidents, no barking, very friendly, and appropriately sleepy while flying in my lap. I seriously was SO proud of him when the whole plane said he was the best ESA ever, and they never heard a single noise from him on all 3 legs from Fargo to West Palm Beach. I'm just in love with my little guy! Thank you for a allowing me to adopt Lucky. I'm very grateful.

Monty

He is already a full-fledged member of the family! He is definitely here to stay! He has decided that my husband, Wayne, is all his. We all call him Grandpa's little barnacle boy! And Grandpa loves every minute of it. Monty is now answering to his new name of "Mikky" like it's the only name he's ever had. We just didn't feel that "Monty" really suited him and his personality, so we were trying some different names and he immediately responded to "Mikky"! (pronounced Mickey, but as he is an original, his name had to be a bit original, too.) So, he kind of chose his own name. ;-) Our other two dogs, Annie and MoMo, have totally accepted him into the family as well. He and MoMo (also a Min Pin) have had some great chasing each other games. No food, water or toy problems at all. No potty problems, either. He has even tried out the doggie door a couple of times. Needs a little more practice with that yet, but he is a very smart little guy, so I see no problem with just a little more time. So, yes, Mikky is our forever boy, for sure! Thanks so much! Loni Kaufman Update #2 We are over the moon with how well Mikky is working out! What a fun little blessing he is!! Just what we needed to liven up our lives and perk up our days, especially after losing our old Rexie dog. Mikky and MoMo (the red Min Pin) are great buddies, now. Mikky's got it pretty good because I think, because of his tiny size, MoMo thinks he is a baby and gives in to him (treats, toys) all the time. So funny. We just had a double birthday/Father's Day party here this past Saturday with a bunch of people over. After his initial "spaz-out" when they came into the house, Mikky settled right down and joined the party! We've had so many people in and out over the past month that he is learning that people are actually pretty handy to have around! They ALL got to pet him (under the ever watchful eye of MoMo, mighty protector!), & my son-in-law, who is known as the "dog-whisperer" in the family, was even carrying him around and playing fetch with him and MoMo with a toy! Milestone!!!! Today, Annie, the extra fluffy white Sheba Inu/American Eskimo girl, had to go over to the vet. She's diabetic and needs to have her blood glucose checked about once a month or so. We took Mikky along today just to have the experience and get his nails trimmed. I was a bit worried, but he went back with the vet tech and she said he was very wriggly and squirmy, but did not snap or try to bite. I was VERY happy with that! :-) Last week Mikky finally mastered the doggie door!! Now he is in and out constantly.........just because he can. He tried it the first week he was here and was following Annie a bit too closely and the flap snapped back and knocked him right on his little butt! So, needless to say, it's taken awhile for him to really get brave enough to try it again. He does look to make sure the other dogs are away from the door before he goes through it, now. Too cute! Mikky is a perfect little addition to our family. We just love him to death!

Memphis

We adopted two sibling kitties - Memphis and John Smith. So far they have fit very well into our family and have a LOT of fun with each other. They came from different foster homes but warmed up to each other very quickly and can often be found sleeping very close to, or literally on top of each other. They have great personalities and love to play! The kids are having so much fun with them! The kitties are very curious about everything we do and we keep finding them in funny spots - laundry baskets, the top of the bunk beds, in the bathtub, etc. The also love to snuggle a lot and will come sit on whatever you are doing to get the attention they want, much to the amusement of the children. Adopting the kittens has been a wonderful experience and a great addition to our family. Thank you DITR!

Mandi
Mandi

We welcomed Mandi into our home in February. It was love at first sight. We had lost both of our previous pets ( Macy- Mar. 2014 and Molly- Sept. 2014) last year due to both illness and age. It was very hard on both my husband and I and thought that we could never have another dog again that we would love as much as them. I get very lonesome for the welcome that you receive if you have been gone 10 minutes or 3 hours and started looking at getting another dog. I really did not want a puppy as my husband and I have retired, so started looking at the different sites for a rescue pet. There in checking your web site in early Feb. I saw this picture of Mandi that melted my heart. I had a hard time getting onto your site and it happened that there was a Diamond in the Ruff Pet Rescue group meeting at Moorhead Center Mall that Saturday which the web site did say that Mandi would not be attending, upon talking to several people they helped me to get on the site, upon getting home I filled out the pre adoption papers on her. Things went from there references were called, and finally the evening for meeting her. Upon her entering our home we all fell in love with her, and we filled out the remaining paperwork and she was with us. She was good from the start, minus having some accidents, we had a mutual love between us. My Grandaughter was and is still living with us, being a recent college grad from UND, she is a registered nurse here at Sanford, with her parents living in Minneapolis it was a big welcome to our family for as long as she wants to stay. Along with her she has a dog named Sparrow who has been an asset to Mandi as a playmate. They have gotten along very good, never any issues between them. They play tug of war and each have a bone to chew on that they often lay side by side. So our adoption of Mandi has been a very positive one, and we thank "Diamond in The Ruff Pet Rescue" for helping be our forever home to her. Thanks again, Maxine and Bruce Larkin

Maisie Mae

Mikka (formerly Maisie Mae) has adjusted wonderfully to our household. She was initially timid and slow to show affection for the first few months although she was eager to receive attention, positive reinforcement, and spend time with us in our daily activities. As Mikka became more confident in her new environment and more comfortable with us, she started to show affection and initiate contact on her terms. She now happily greets us when we come home and will seek us out with toys when she wants to play. Mikka's favorite activities are snuggling together under the covers, chasing balls, and sunning herself. It took our older dog, Windsor, and Mikka a few weeks to find their way together. They have now settled into a happy and peaceful coexistence with one another. We have had an extremely positive experience adopting from your organization and are incredibly happy to have Mikka as a part of our family. Please enjoy some of the attached pictures of Mikka.
